What age is School of Cycle designed for?

This course is ideal for kids ages 4–12, but many of the strategies work well for older or younger children too. The key is that your child is ready to learn and open to trying.

My child is anxious about bikes. Will this still work?

Yes! Typically, children feel anxious or fearful about falling or speed.  With School of Cycle, fears are extinguished early on from exposing the child to the concepts in the free resources section.  These resources get the child ready and interested.  They also teach them that they are in control, not the bike.  Last, the child learns that momentum is the key to keeping the child balanced and going.  School of Cycle gets the child comfortable gradually, with small steps that build confidence.

How is this different from just watching YouTube videos?

School of Cycle is for the parent and the child instead of the parent imposing coaching techniques from a video on the child. The steps are sequenced, so if the child tries the next step without much success, you can always repeat the prior step to solidify or practice skills before moving forward. School of Cycle also involve a lot of preparation to get the child on board first, as the child will be familiar with the lingo and steps in advance.

Do I need special equipment to follow the course?

Unlike some methods out there, all you need is a properly sized bike, a helmet, and an appropriate setting.  Wrenches to adjust the bike are important to have as well, which can be purchased or borrowed..

What if my child has never even sat on a bike before?

Some sort of experience on a wheeled toy if preferred, such as a scooter or tricycle so the child understands how to push off and push pedals forward.  However, the method is a sequence of skills that build on one another.  So, even kids who have no prior experience can be learn to be successful riders.

Is this course for parents or kids to watch?

Parts of School of Cycle are for the parent and parts are for the child.  However, the program is integrated and the parts work together.
